Emporia couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 4-0 to the Ottawa Cyclones on Friday. Emporia has not had much luck with Ottawa recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Alivia Anno spent all seven innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, Emporia saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Clara Williams, who went 2-for-3 with a double.

Even though they lost, Emporia didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with ten strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ottawa only tossed four.

On Ottawa's side, not much got past Addison White, who gave up just six hits to keep Emporia off the board.

On the hitting side, Chevy Seaton was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

While Emporia had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
