Softball Recap: Clarke County Comes Up Short

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Clarke County and Southern Choctaw, and Clarke County kept the tradition alive. The Clarke County Bulldogs lost 21-6 to the Southern Choctaw Indians on Thursday. One positive for the Bulldogs, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Asharai Pugh made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Arianna Brown also deserves some recognition as she stole her first stolen bases of the season.

Even though they lost, Clarke County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.

Clarke County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Southern Choctaw, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-3-1 record.

We've got a battle between Bulldogs coming up. As for Southern Choctaw, they are taking a road trip to challenge Sweet Water at 5:00 p.m. on March 6th.
