Football Recap: Classical Academy Comes Up Short

Saturday just wasn't the day for Classical Academy's offense. They took a blow against the Bishop's Knights on Saturday, falling 49-0. The Caimans have struggled against the Knights recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Even if they lost, Classical Academy's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Leading the way was Jonah Bombacie with two.

Cash Herrera continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Bishop's, throwing for 343 yards and five TDs while completing 73.1% of his passes, and also rushing for 66 yards and one touchdown. That's the most passing touchdowns Herrera has posted since back in October of 2024. Bishop's leading receiver Dane Larson was Herrera's top target yet again, picking up 123 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Classical Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Bishop's, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Coming up, Classical Academy will welcome Santa Fe Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' defense has only allowed 12.6 points per game this season, so the Caimans' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Bishop's, they will head out to take on Don Lugo at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights will be up against the Conquistadores' rather soft defense (which has allowed 37.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
