Basketball Recap: North Beach Falls Despite Big Games from Sonny Terrel and Dakota Russell

North Beach was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They lost 55-30 to the Ocosta Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hyaks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 79-49 back in January.

Dakota Russell and Sonny Terrel certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Russell posted eight points and five steals, while Terrel went 6 of 15 on his way to 13 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Those six boards gave Terrel a new career-high.

Ocosta's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sonny Beard led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Beard is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Jesus Agramon was another key player, going 5 for 10 to rack up 11 points.

North Beach's loss dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Ocosta, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-4.

North Beach has already played their next game, a 44-32 defeat against Chief Leschi on the 6th. As for Ocosta, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 58-41 loss against Willapa Valley on the 7th.
