Recap: Lake Lure Classical Academy Raptors vs. University Christian Barracudas
The Lake Lure Classical Academy Raptors won the last time they faced the University Christian Barracudas, and things went their way on Friday too. Lake Lure Classical Academy strolled past University Christian with points to spare, taking the game 63-46. Given Lake Lure Classical Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while University Christian is ranked 603rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lake Lure Classical Academy can attribute much of their success to Westyn Woodard, who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Da'Zirus Watkins, who scored six points along with six assists and five steals.
Despite the loss, University Christian still got an impressive performance from Reece Morin, who scored 16 points. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for him. Max Haan was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Lake Lure Classical Academy's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for University Christian, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Lake Lure Classical Academy will be playing at home against Bethel Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bethel Christian Academy will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for University Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Nebo Crossing Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Nebo Crossing Academy and University Christian are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads.
