Volleyball Recap: Kellis Cougars vs. Willow Canyon Wildcats
Kellis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They came up short against the Willow Canyon Wildcats, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on October 1st.
Kellis was the model of consistency in the loss, scoring 16 points in every single set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-16, 25-16.
Willow Canyon was led to victory by Emory Scogin and Tatum Abeles. Scogin had 13 digs and four assists, while Abeles had three digs and two aces. Scogin is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Dalilah Welker also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.
Kellis' defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Willow Canyon, their win bumped their record up to 22-14.
We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Kellis will challenge rival Centennial at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Willow Canyon is set to take on their familiar foe Ironwood at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
