Basketball Recap: Pagosa Springs Wins Going Away Against Monte Vista

The third road game was the charm for Pagosa Springs, as they earned their first road win of the season. They took down the Monte Vista Pirates 42-26 on Friday. Pagosa Springs has seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw Monte Vista, too.

Pagosa Springs had a senior duo take command as Elizabeth Currier posted 15 points along with six rebounds and five assists and Karsyn Shahan put up 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Ketchum, who scored two points and five boards.

Pagosa Springs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monte Vista only pulled down five offensive boards.

Despite the defeat, Monte Vista had strong showings from Heysenny Beltran, who went 6 for 10 on her way to 13 points, and Allessah Archuleta, who had ten points. Archuleta has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.

Pagosa Springs picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 6-4. As for Monte Vista, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.

Pagosa Springs didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 51-22 win against Ignacio on the 18th. Monte Vista has also already played their next contest, a 39-35 victory against Buena Vista on the 18th.
