Baseball Game Preview: New Smyrna Beach Barracudas vs. Lake Mary Rams

The New Smyrna Beach Barracudas will face off against the Lake Mary Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lake Mary took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on New Smyrna Beach, who comes in off a win.

On Tuesday, everything went New Smyrna Beach's way against South Lake as New Smyrna Beach made off with a 7-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Barracudas.

Jayden Calamonico spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Teague Carosella, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Iannucci, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Lake Mary was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against Hagerty, falling 12-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Rams have suffered since February 11th.

Lake Mary's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for New Smyrna Beach, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.

New Smyrna Beach came out on top in a nail-biter against Lake Mary in their previous meeting two weeks ago, sneaking past 7-5. Will New Smyrna Beach repeat their success, or does Lake Mary have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
