West Park entered their tilt with Cordova on Friday with seven consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with eight. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Lancers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-1 last Wednesday.

West Park got a great performance from David Ortez as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Ortez has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Christopher Fisher, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. He has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 11 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Oliver, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

West Park hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive matches.

West Park pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Cordova, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-8-1.

Coming up, West Park will square off against Madera at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cordova, they will take on Casa Roble in a tournament on Monday. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
