Basketball Game Preview: Progreso Red Ants vs. IDEA Riverview Rockets

The Progreso Red Ants will take on the IDEA Riverview Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Friday, Progreso lost to IDEA Frontier College Prep on the road by a 54-40 margin.

Meanwhile, IDEA Riverview didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Raymondville on Friday, but they still walked away with a 51-46 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rockets.

Progreso better keep an eye on Oziel Escobedo. He was instrumental in IDEA Riverview's win, putting up 27 points. They are 2-1 when Escobedo posts 25 or more points, but 7-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Manuel Guerra, who posted eight points.

Progreso has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for IDEA Riverview, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.

Progreso and IDEA Riverview were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in February of 2025, but Progreso came up empty-handed after a 35-34 loss. Can the Red Ants avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
