Basketball Recap: Sandhills Valley Takes a Loss

Sandhills Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 26th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost to the Twin Loup Wolves at home by a 53-37 margin. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mavericks of the 45-18 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Sandhills Valley still got an impressive performance from Avery Weems, who posted 14 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Rhayana Bruns, who earned five points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Twin Loup to victory, but perhaps none more so than Madison Glidden, who went 7 of 16 on her way to 22 points and six rebounds. Those 22 points gave Glidden a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carsen Vincent, who put up 12 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.

Sandhills Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Twin Loup, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4.

Sandhills Valley will venture away from home to face off against Maxwell on Friday. Sandhills Valley is facing Maxwell at the right time seeing as Maxwell is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Twin Loup, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 57-30 defeat against Riverside on the 21st.
