Basketball Recap: Legacy Academy Takes a Loss

Legacy Academy lost against Jemez Valley back in March of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Legacy Academy Silverbacks received a blow as they fell 51-34 to the Jemez Valley Warrior.

Despite the defeat, Legacy Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Eden Griffis dropped a double-double on 15 points and 18 rebounds. Those 15 points gave Griffis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleigh Carrasco, who went 5 for 11 to rack up 14 points.

Even though they lost, Legacy Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 17 consecutive games.

Legacy Academy's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 12-6. As for Jemez Valley, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 15-4.

Legacy Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 45-41 win against Menaul on the 4th. As for Jemez Valley, they have also already played their next match, a 46-30 victory against Native American Community Academy/Evangel Christian Academy on the 4th.
