Softball Recap: Moriarty Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Moriarty had won four straight at home, but on Friday they bumped their record up to 18-6 to make it five. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Pojoaque Valley Elks/Elkettes. The result was nothing new for the Pintos, who have now won 16 contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Isabella Gallegos made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Shae Rios was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Emma Rodriguez, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Moriarty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. They are a perfect 13-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

As for Pojoaque Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 7-18. They were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the four games prior), but Moriarty's pitcher proved too tough.

On Pojoaque Valley's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lilah Herrera, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.

Moriarty will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Elks/Elkettes: the pair will be back at it again later today.
