Game recap: Cartersville High School Football Team defeats Ringgold

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. - Cartersville (Ga.) snapped the six-game winning streak of Ringgold (Ga.), with a 33-16 victory on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a Brooks Barden touchdown run in the first quarter, the Hurricanes were up 20-0 at the half.

Cartersville saw its 20-point halftime lead decrease to 19 entering the fourth.

With the win CHS extended its winning streak to 10 games. Cartersville defeated Sonoraville 53-9 last week.

Barden played well for the Hurricanes in the victory. The senior quarterback threw three touchdowns and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored eight touchdowns on the season.



The Tigers came in allowing just 14.2 points per game this season. Ringgold had a hard time against Cartersville's offense, which entered the game scoring 41.3 points per game. CHS went into the matchup giving up only 7.8 points per game. The 16 points that RHS ended with were well above its average of 3.3 coming into the game.

The defeat comes as a step back for Ringgold, who notched a 56-7 victory over Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe in its previous outing.
