Softball Recap: Iroquois West Triumphs

While Iroquois West's victory against Georgetown-Ridge Farm wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Raiders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Buffaloes on Friday. The Raiders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Buffaloes, too.

Autumn Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Amelia Scharp was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Jordyn Meents was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple.

The victory made it two in a row for Iroquois West and bumps their season record up to 8-13. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Georgetown-Ridge Farm, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 13 of their last 14 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.

Iroquois West will challenge Grant Park at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Dragons have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Georgetown-Ridge Farm, they will square off against Oakwood at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
