Softball Recap: Eastern Wayne Warriors vs. North Johnston Panthers
It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Eastern Wayne ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They skirted past the North Johnston Panthers 4-3. Four seems to be a good number for the Warriors as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Mallory Reed was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 19 batters over eight innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than 14 strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Natalia Pierce was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That RBI was her first of the season.
