Wimberley had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Their defense stepped up to hand the Pearsall Mavericks a 69-0 shutout on Thursday. The Texans' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

A big part of Wimberley's victory came down to the chemistry between Cody Stoever and his top target Jace Morales. Stoever threw for 160 yards and four touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes while Morales gained 85 total yards and three touchdowns. Jace Cutrona got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Wimberley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 211 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in December of 2023.

The win (which was Wimberley's seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-2. Those victories were due in large part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.4 points per game. As for Pearsall, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-9.
