Football Recap: Northridge Raiders vs. Fort Wayne North Side Legends
Northridge couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 32-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fort Wayne North Side Legends on Friday. The Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Legends apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.
Northridge's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Karsyn Rumfelt, who threw for 230 yards and two touchdowns. Judah Hochstetler was Rumfelt's top target, picking up 86 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Fort Wayne North Side was led to victory by Tristen Newsome and Caleb Kiengele. Newsome rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries, while Kiengele rushed for 211 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.5 yards per carry.
Northridge will take on Elkhart on Friday. As for Fort Wayne North Side, they will welcome Lawrence North on Friday.
