Basketball Recap: Valdosta Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Valdosta can now relate to. They took a 61-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Etowah Eagles on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while the Eagles are ranked 13th).

This is the second loss in a row for Valdosta and nudges their season record down to 17-11. As for Etowah, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season.

Valdosta does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Etowah, they will square off against Buford on Saturday. Etowah knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 16 matches -- so hopefully Buford likes a good challenge.
