Corvallis had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.9 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Silverton Foxes a 4-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 on Friday.

Axel Prechel was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Prechel wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Roy Bannister, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Corvallis' win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Silverton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-3.
