Soccer Game Preview: Greenbrier vs. Parkview

The Greenbrier Panthers will take on the Parkview Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Greenbrier has five straight wins, Parkview has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Greenbrier's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Vilonia by a score of 2-0. Two seems to be a good number for Greenbrier as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of goals in their previous game.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Parkview's offense. They came up short against Little Rock Christian Academy two weeks ago, falling 9-0. While losing is never fun, Parkview can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas soccer rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Little Rock Christian Academy are ranked sixth).

Greenbrier's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those four games. As for Parkview, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
