Baseball Game Preview: Kenwood Broncos vs. Oak Forest Bengals

The Kenwood Broncos will take on the Oak Forest Bengals at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Kenwood sitting on 11 straight victories and Oak Forest on four.

Kenwood is returning to their home field after beating Lane Tech on theirs, despite the fact Lane Tech has dominated at home this season. The Broncos narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Champions 10-9. Kenwood's victory was all the more impressive since the Champions were averaging only four runs allowed on the season.

Jimmy Downs was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Brandon Stinson, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

Kenwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .472. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lane Tech only posted a batting average of .344.

Meanwhile, Oak Forest made easy work of Solorio on Thursday and carried off a 9-2 win. Considering the Bengals have won 16 contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Kenwood pushed their record up to 17-6-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Oak Forest, their victory bumped their record up to 21-11-1.
