Basketball Recap: Lapel Beats New Castle for Their 12th Straight Win

Lapel had won 11 straight games and Luke Jones did his part to make it 12 on Tuesday. The Lapel Bulldogs came out on top against the New Castle Trojans by a score of 70-63 which was due in part to Jones, who made all 8 shots he took to post 21 points. Those 21 points gave him a new career-high.

The team also got some help courtesy of Bode Judge, who went 7-for-12 on his way to 20 points and five boards. His big performance that evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points.

Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Landon Thompson, who went 11-for-18 to rack up 25 points and eight rebounds. Thompson is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 58% in the last five games he's played. Mason Miller was another key player, putting up 19 points and five assists.

Lapel's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points over those games. As for New Castle, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.

Lapel does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for New Castle, they will take on Muncie Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. New Castle has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
