Softball Game Preview: Gila Ridge Hawks vs. McClintock Chargers

The Gila Ridge Hawks will head out on the road to challenge the McClintock Chargers at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Gila Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.

Gila Ridge fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Kofa on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Kings by a score of 3-2. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Violet Silva spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Tayler Reischmann was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, while McClintock put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Carl Hayden Community. McClintock blew past Carl Hayden Community 22-0. The match marked the Chargers' most dominant victory of the season so far.

The win made it two in a row for McClintock and bumps their season record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.5 runs over those games. As for Gila Ridge, they suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 5-3.
