Baseball Game Preview: Great Oak Wolfpack vs. Santiago Sharks

The Great Oak Wolfpack will be taking part in a tournament against the Santiago Sharks at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Great Oak will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Great Oak's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 4-0 win over Norco. The game marked the Wolfpack's most dominant victory of the season so far.

Great Oak got a great performance from Riley Kronenfeld as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Kronenfeld also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Wolfpack are 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Logan Washizaki, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Wes Shanabarger also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Santiago was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They fell just short of Bonita by a score of 3-2.

Santiago's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Great Oak, their record is now 4-8.

Great Oak came up short against Santiago in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, falling 7-4. Can the Wolfpack avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
