League recap: Turlock gets lift from Groesbeck's big bat

Central California league recap: 4/3/13

Adam Groesbeck had the hottest bat in Central California this week, racking up a .500 average, two home runs and nine RBIs. Turlock went 4-0.

The league's top pitcher this week was the Bulldogs' Tyler Murphy. He won one game and retired 13 batters.

Atwater's pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only seven hits and two walks, both of which led the league.

The league boasted 14 .400 hitters over the past week. They were led by Matt Parker, who hit .800 this week (4-for-5).

Merced's Matt Smith finished with a league-high two wins over the past week. He is third in the league with four wins overall this season.



Groesbeck was an RBI machine on Wednesday, as he knocked in eight runs during Turlock's 17-1 win over Golden Valley. He went 3-for-4 and scored two runs.

Murphy led the Bulldogs to a win on March 28, as he notched ten strikeouts to beat the Cougars, 5-1. Over his six innings pitched he allowed one run on two hits.
