Softball Recap: Erie-Prophetstown Victorious

Erie-Prophetstown took a eight-run loss the last time they faced off against Sherrard, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Tigers 4-2. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 12-4 victory the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Wynn Renkes was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Renkes wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Hamilton, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Erie-Prophetstown now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Sherrard, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-3.

Looking ahead, Erie-Prophetstown is taking a road trip to challenge Princeton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. As for Sherrard, they will be playing at home against Mercer County at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 3.3, the Golden Eagles 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
