Baseball Recap: Providence Day Gets the Win

After losing to Cary Academy the last time they met, Providence Day decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Providence Day walked away with a 6-2 victory over Cary Academy on Saturday.

Thomas Daly tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Austin Ward, who scored a run and stole Four bases. while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Brendan Ravin also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Providence Day's record is now 4-2. As for Cary Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Providence Day will host SouthLake Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Providence Day's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so SouthLake Christian Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Cary Academy, they will challenge Trinity Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
