Baseball Game Preview: Red Hook Raiders vs. Taconic Hills Titans

The Red Hook Raiders will head out on the road to square off against the Taconic Hills Titans at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

New Paltz hit Red Hook with a five-run seventh inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Raiders fell 7-4 to the Huguenots. Raiders fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Huguenots since on Friday.

Meanwhile, Taconic Hills came tearing into Thursday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Falcons an 8-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won 12 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Francis Conners-Schmid made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Tristan Super was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Tyler Mulrein was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Taconic Hills' victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Red Hook, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.

Red Hook couldn't quite get it done against Taconic Hills in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 11-7. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
