Basketball Game Preview: Pojoaque Valley Elks/Elkettes vs. Espanola Valley Sundevils

Pojoaque Valley hasn't had much luck against Espanola Valley recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Pojoaque Valley Elks/Elkettes will venture away from home to challenge the Espanola Valley Sundevils at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Espanola Valley will be up against a hot Pojoaque Valley squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Pojoaque Valley came out on top against Los Alamos by a score of 61-49 on Tuesday. Given the Elks/Elkettes' advantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Hilltoppers are ranked 89th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Espanola Valley entered their tilt with Taos on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They snuck past the Tigers with a 63-57 victory.

Espanola Valley is also on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. As for Pojoaque Valley, their win bumped their record up to 15-7.

Pojoaque Valley and Espanola Valley were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in January, but Pojoaque Valley came up empty-handed after a 53-52 defeat. Can Pojoaque Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
