Soccer Recap: Gilbert Christian Triumphs

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Gilbert Christian walked away with it. While the 3-3 score might suggest a draw, it was the Gilbert Christian Knights who were credited with the win on Saturday. The Gilbert Christian Knights got it done in the shootout by posting six goals to the Palo Verde Titans's five. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Titans are ranked 65th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Gilbert Christian hit Palo Verde with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Kai Lundberg, Noah Cooper, and Brody Moore.

Gilbert Christian pushed their record up to 15-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 50 goals over those eight matchups. As for Palo Verde, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-6.

Gilbert Christian wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next game, a 3-1 win against Catalina on the 18th. Palo Verde does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
