Basketball Recap: Casady Falls Despite Big Games from Davis Currie and James Elder

Casady was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 74-69 heartbreaker at the hands of Harding Prep. If the Cyclones were looking for revenge after losing 74-67 to them when the teams met back in January of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Casady's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of James Elder, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 19 rebounds, and Davis Currie, who went 9-for-20 on his way to 21 points. With that strong performance, Elder is now averaging an impressive 8.2 boards per game. Jozef Pikula was another key player, putting up seven points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Casady smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Casady's defeat dropped their record down to 2-20. As for Harding Prep, their victory ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-12.

Casady wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 57-44 loss against Community Christian on the 13th. As for Harding Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 80-67 defeat against Crooked Oak on the 13th.
