Clayton is 8-1-1 against Smithfield-Selma since October of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Comets will look to defend their home pitch against the Spartans at 6:30 p.m. Clayton will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Clayton will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal on Monday, then bounced right back against Fuquay - Varina on Wednesday. The Comets walked away with a 4-2 win over the Bengals. Clayton better thank their lucky stars for the performance of Tavalis Parker, as he scored every single goal for his team.

Meanwhile, Smithfield-Selma fell victim to Fuquay - Varina and their airtight defense on Thursday. They lost 4-0 to the Bengals. While losing is never fun, Smithfield-Selma can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 310th, while Fuquay - Varina are ranked 153rd).

Smithfield-Selma's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8-2. As for Clayton, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2-1.

Clayton was able to grind out a solid win over Smithfield-Selma in their previous meeting back in September, winning 3-1. Will the Comets repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
