Basketball Recap: Cook County Comes Up Short

Cook County lost against McGregor back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cook County Vikings fell 73-64 to the McGregor Mercuries.

Loss or not, Cook County got some senior leadership from Denali Blackwell and Rohan Rude. Blackwell posted 22 points and seven boards, while Rude had 17 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Blackwell's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Backstrom, who put up eight points and five rebounds.

Cook County now has a losing record of 10-11. As for McGregor, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-14 record this season.

Cook County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 85-55 win against Blackduck on the 22nd. As for McGregor, they will welcome Laporte at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
