Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Cypress Ranch walked away with it. They took down the Grand Oaks Grizzlies 27-13 on Friday. The victory was nothing new for the Mustangs as they're now sitting on nine straight.

Cypress Ranch got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Peyton Thomas out in front who rushed for 92 yards and one touchdown, and also caught one TD. Braden Baker was another key passer, throwing for 274 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 13.0 yards per attempt.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Cypress Ranch proved: they limited Grand Oaks to a paltry 3.2 yards per carry. The team can thank Ayden Combs for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Cypress Ranch; they were averaging 5.3yards per carry per game earlier this season, but in their last three contests they've fallen to only 3.8 per game.

Cypress Ranch didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of David Crosby and Caleb Clack. Crosby also made six total tackles, which is notable because Cypress Ranch is undefeated when he posts at least three total tackles, but 1-2 otherwise. Another thorn in Grand Oaks' side was Combs, who picked up a sack, made eight total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defended one pass.

Despite the loss, Grand Oaks still got an impressive performance from Darnell Jackson Jr, who picked up 63 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Cypress Ranch's record now sits at 10-2. As for Grand Oaks, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.

Coming up, Cypress Ranch will face off against Waxahachie at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Mustangs will need to watch out since the Indians have now posted at least 31 points in their last six matchups. Grand Oaks does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
