Softball Recap: Leilani Terrazas' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Granite Bay over Whitney

Granite Bay lost against Whitney back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Grizzlies wound up with the same score they had in their last game (2-1), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. The game marked their lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Granite Bay got a good showing from Paetynn Snobar, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Snobar gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in May of 2024.

At the plate, Granite Bay saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leilani Terrazas, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was Terrazas' first of the season.

Granite Bay has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Whitney, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Granite Bay will head out to challenge Del Oro at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Grizzlies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Eagles have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season. As for Whitney, they will head out on the road to face off against Rocklin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Thunder's pitching crew has only allowed 1.5 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
