Volleyball Recap: Amplus Academy Archers vs. Las Vegas Wildcats
Amplus Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Las Vegas Wildcats, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in March.
While Amplus Academy had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-20, 25-20.
Blake Taylor paced Amplus Academy's offense, picking up six kills. Taylor got some help from Maxwell Ganley and his 14 assists. Finally, Benjamin Hulet kept Amplus Academy's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.
Among those leading the charge was Omar Duarte, who had 21 digs and two assists. That's the most assists he has posted since back in March of 2024. Bao Lam also deserves some recognition as he had his first kill of the season.
Amplus Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Las Vegas, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 9-14.
Looking ahead, Amplus Academy will head out to face off against Silverado at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Archers are facing the Skyhawks at the right time seeing as the Skyhawks are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Las Vegas, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Del Sol at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dragons will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight.
