Soccer Game Preview: Kenwood vs. McEwen

The Kenwood Knights will head out to square off against the McEwen Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Kenwood's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Kenwood is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Henry County on Tuesday. The Knights lost 4-1 to the Patriots. While losing is never fun, Kenwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee soccer rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while Henry County are ranked 91st).

Kenwood's goal came courtesy of Cyprian Kwarteng, who's now up to five this season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for McEwen, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They blew past Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central 8-0 on Thursday. Considering McEwen have won five matches by more than three goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

McEwen pushed their record up to 8-4-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three contests. As for Kenwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
