Softball Recap: Somers Victorious

Somers was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eastchester Eagles, sneaking past 6-5.

Emily Boyle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Keira Griggs, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Caitlin Fitts was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one RBI.

Somers now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Eastchester, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Somers wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 4-0 win against Nanuet on the 9th. As for Eastchester, they will challenge Mahopac at 11:00 a.m. on Monday.
