Baseball Game Preview: Chenango Valley Warriors vs. Norwich Purple Tornado

The Chenango Valley Warriors will square off against the Norwich Purple Tornado at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Monday, Chenango Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Windsor Central and fell 5-4.

Chenango Valley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Gianisis, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Norwich was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 28th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Johnson City.

Jaxson Francis was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Zack Parker was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Chenango Valley has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Norwich, their loss dropped their record down to 0-15.

Chenango Valley's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's match. The Warriors have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Norwich, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Chenango Valley continue to outrun the ball?

Chenango Valley took their victory against Norwich in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 13-2 score. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Purple Tornado turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
