Baseball Game Preview: Conneaut Area Eagles vs. Corry Beavers

The Conneaut Area Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Corry Beavers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither Conneaut Area nor Corry posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Fairview hit Conneaut Area with a six-run fifth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles came up short against the Tigers, falling 12-1. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Conneaut Area saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Wilpula, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Kyle Herr also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Corry waltzed into their matchup on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against the Grape Pickers. Give the Beavers' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Corry now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Conneaut Area, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.

Conneaut Area might still be hurting after the 9-3 defeat they got from Corry in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
