Basketball Game Preview: Providence Grove Patriots vs. Randleman Tigers

The Providence Grove Patriots will venture away from home to challenge the Randleman Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Providence Grove will head into Wednesday's contest hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 42) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Southern Alamance 61-59. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Providence Grove has posted since November 26, 2024.

Providence Grove got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Will Dabbs out in front who posted 17 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Andrew Thomas, who earned 24 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Randleman entered their tilt with Uwharrie Charter Academy on Tuesday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 77-66. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Eagles are ranked 241st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Randleman's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.2 points per game. As for Providence Grove, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.

Providence Grove was taken down by Randleman 84-51 in their previous matchup back in January. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Providence Grove was down 47-24.
