Soccer Recap: Mt. Vernon Comes Up Short

After flying high against Vienna/Goreville on Monday, Mt. Vernon came back down to earth. The Rams came up short against the Carbondale Terriers on Wednesday, falling 6-0. Mt. Vernon were not able to make up for their loss to Carbondale from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Mt. Vernon dropped their record down to 4-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Carbondale, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Mt. Vernon didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next match, a 5-1 loss against Greenville on the 25th. As for Carbondale, they also wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next game, a 7-1 defeat against Marion on the 25th.
