Alexandria-Monroe and Madison-Grant are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2018, but likely not for long. The Tigers will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Argylls at 5:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Alexandria-Monroe sitting on eight straight wins and Madison-Grant on six.
On Saturday, Alexandria-Monroe made easy work of Wapahani and carried off a 14-1 victory. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by 13 runs or more this season.
Alexandria-Monroe got a great performance from Alyssa Brees as she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. What's more, Brees posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Daisy Bivens, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Ally Duckworth was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Alexandria-Monroe was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .517 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Madison-Grant posted their closest win since May 18, 2024 on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past North Miami 11-9.
Cayleigh Stitt was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Carley Holliday, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Madison-Grant's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Alexandria-Monroe, their win bumped their record up to 8-0.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Alexandria-Monroe hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.2 home runs per game. However, it's not like Madison-Grant struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Alexandria-Monroe beat Madison-Grant 6-2 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Argylls turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
