Softball Recap: Ira Comes Up Short

Ira was the 19-1 winner over Westbrook when they last played one another back in April of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. The Bulldogs lost 16-2 to the Wildcats on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ira saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Presley Smith, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double. Ella Robertson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Ira's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Westbrook, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-8.

Looking ahead, Ira will welcome Marfa at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs are facing the Shorthorns at the right time seeing as the Shorthorns are stuck on a four-game losing streak. Westbrook will be paying especially close attention to Ira's matchup: after Ira faces off against Marfa, they'll take on Westbrook again at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
