Basketball Game Preview: Thompson Valley Eagles vs. Wellington Eagles

The Thompson Valley Eagles will take on the Wellington Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Thompson Valley's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Wellington has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.

Thompson Valley is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest defeat since February 20, 2024 on Thursday. They lost 67-41 to Roosevelt. The Eagles were down 52-30 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Thompson Valley's loss came about despite a quality game from Mekayla Macias, who went 7 of 15 en route to 17 points. Another player making a difference was Libby Jarosik, who posted seven points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Wellington played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Timnath and fell 60-16. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-6.

Wellington's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Thompson Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 11-4.

Everything came up roses for Thompson Valley against Wellington in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 52-14 win. Will Thompson Valley repeat their success, or does Wellington have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
