Volleyball Recap: Middletown Comes Up Short

Middletown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to the Newington Nor'easters. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Dragons of the 3-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2020.

Middletown started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-15, 25-18, 25-13.

Middletown's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Newington, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-11.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Middletown will square off against rival New Britain at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Newington is set to challenge their familiar foe Wethersfield at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
