Basketball Recap: Northgate Comes Up Short

After flying high against Lithia Springs two weeks ago, Northgate came back down to earth. 2025 welcomed the Northgate Vikings with a 77-57 loss courtesy of the Stockbridge Tigers on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 257th, while the Tigers are ranked 50th).

When it comes to explaining why Northgate lost, don't look at Deasia Stinson. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine assists. The matchup was Stinson's 15th in a row with at least ten points. Aaliyah Reynolds was another key player, putting up eight points and five boards.

Leading Stockbridge to victory were Kahli Ingram and Ashley Richburg. Ingram posted 23 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven assists, while Richburg scored 27 points. Those seven assists gave Ingram a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaila Scott, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards.

Northgate's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Stockbridge, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.

Northgate didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-38 victory against McIntosh on the 7th. Stockbridge has also already played their next contest, a 65-43 win against McDonough on the 7th.
