Softball Recap: Wauwatosa East Takes a Loss

Wauwatosa East extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 4-15 in the process. They came up short against the South Milwaukee Rockets, falling 13-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Red Raiders of the 13-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2017.

As for South Milwaukee, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 13-4. The result was nothing new for the Rockets, who have now won ten matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

For South Milwaukee's part, Makenzie Paprocki spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. Paprocki has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ava Dziondziakowski was a standout: she fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-5. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Sophie Lessard was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

While Wauwatosa East had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
