Volleyball Game Preview: Crestwood Comets vs. Western Wayne Wildcats

The Crestwood Comets will square off against the Western Wayne Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Crestwood sitting on three straight wins and Western Wayne on five.

Crestwood is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Valley View as they made off with a 3-0 victory.

Crestwood never let Valley View on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-13, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Western Wayne beat Greater Nanticoke Area 3-1 on Tuesday.

Crestwood's win bumped their record up to 17-4. As for Western Wayne, they pushed their record up to 16-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's game: Crestwood has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8.8 aces per game. However, it's not like Western Wayne struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.5 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Crestwood was able to grind out a solid win over Western Wayne in their previous matchup back in March, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
